Hawkes leads the North Idaho to 17-3 win over the Columbia Basin

An impressive effort by Amber Hawkes spurred the North Idaho (13-3) to a 17-3 win in five innings over the Columbia Basin (14-6) on Wednesday at North Idaho.

Hawkes hit two home runs for the North Idaho. Hawkes went 3-3 in the game with four RBIs and three runs scored. Hawkes homered in the third and fourth innings.

The biggest inning for the North Idaho was the fourth. In the inning the North Idaho scored 12 runs. The North Idaho scored in the fourth on an RBI single by Katie Barron, an RBI single by Nikki Miller, a two-run single by Lexi Courtney, a groundout by Kekuulani Haake, a two-run home run by Hawkes, an error, a two-run home run by Barron, and a two-run double by Courtney.

Kayla Andrews racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Columbia Basin. He homered in the third inning.

Hawkes got the win, running his season record to 5-2. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Kadi Patterson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 3 1/3 innings, walked one and struck out none.
