The Columbia Basin (11-4) beat the Yakima Valley (1-11) 9-1 in five innings on Saturday at CBC Softball Field after a six-run explosion in the first inning.
The Columbia Basin scored in the first on an RBI single by Kayla Andrews, an RBI single by Kadi Patterson, a two-run single by Carlie Wyant, and a two-run double by Terin Wade.
Andrews racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Columbia Basin.
Patterson struck out five hitters en route to the the Columbia Basin win. Patterson allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks over five innings.
Beth Anderson was charged with his sixth loss of the year. He allowed nine runs in four innings, walked two and struck out three.
