Andrews leads the Columbia Basin to 10-6 victory

The Columbia Basin (4-0) beat the Everett 10-6 Friday behind both the bat and the arm of Kayla Andrews.

Andrews went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Columbia Basin. He singled in the first inning and homered in the sixth inning.

The Everett (0-1) couldn't get anything going as long as Andrews was pitching. The Everett managed just one hit off of Andrews, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four during his three innings of work.

The Columbia Basin came out swinging, scoring nine runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the Everett early. The Columbia Basin scored in the first on a solo home run by Megan McMurrin, , a two-run double by Sarah Gilliam, a two-run double by Carlie Wyant, an RBI single by Maddy Jones, an RBI single by Emily Dubois, and an RBI single by Andrews.

Rylee Thomas was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed 10 runs in six innings, walked six and struck out three.
