The West Virginia Miners (2-1) and the Chillicothe Paints (1-2) both had scoring chances on Sunday, but it was the West Virginia Miners that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 4-3 win at Linda K. Epling Stadium.

Jesus Villalobos reached base three times. He also drove in two runners. He doubled in the first inning.

Conor Grove brought the heat against the Chillicothe Paints during his outing. The Chillicothe Paints managed just two hits off of Grove, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Eli Boggess was solid at the plate for the Chillicothe Paints. Boggess went 3-4 and scored two runs. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the second and sixth innings.

James Doubet improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the West Virginia Miners. He struck out none, walked one and surrendered one hit.

Derek Hendrixson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
