Trent Hill collected four hits as the St. Joseph Mustangs (1-0) took home an 8-4 victory over the Hutchinson Monarchs (0-1) at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium on Saturday.

Tyler Bugner got on base three times in the game for the Hutchinson Monarchs. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

Nick Brandecker put together a nice outing. Brandecker held the St. Joseph Mustangs hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Preston Felgate improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the St. Joseph Mustangs. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out none, walked two and surrendered 10 hits.

Layne Downing (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out four.
