The Columbia Basin (22-9) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-2 ballgame against the Spokane (18-11) on Saturday at Spokane Falls Community College.
While the Columbia Basin led until the sixth inning, the Spokane worked their way back and took the lead on a two-run single by Jason Mustappa.
Kade Woods picked up the win for the Spokane. Woods pitched nine innings and allowed two earned runs, nine hits and three walks while striking out five.
Nick Crawford ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
