The California Golden Bear (2-1) beat the Puerto Rico National Collegiate (1-2) 5-4 on Monday at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium behind Bobby Reynolds, who went 1-2.

Brian Yount pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, three hits and one walk while striking out two.

The California Golden Bear had no answer for Jose Tirado, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Tirado held the California Golden Bear hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two.

Jordan Hicks recorded his second win of the year for the California Golden Bear. He allowed two runs over two innings. Hicks struck out two, walked none and gave up two hits.

Jose Rodriguez couldn't get it done on the hill for the Puerto Rico National Collegiate, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed one run.
