Early lead not enough for the Las Cruces Vaqueros, drop 3-2 decision to the Roswell Invaders

The Las Cruces Vaqueros (18-49) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 3-2 ballgame against the Roswell Invaders (39-28) on Sunday at Joe Bauman Park.

While the Las Cruces Vaqueros led until the ninth inning, the Roswell Invaders worked their way back and took the lead on a steal of home.

Josh Wright handled the Las Cruces Vaqueros' lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Wright allowed two earned runs on five hits and one walk over eight innings.

Despite the loss, the Las Cruces Vaqueros' Richard Cruz-Sanchez dominated the Roswell Invaders' batters, giving up two runs and striking out eight.

Juan Vega got the win, running his season record to 4-0. He struck out one, walked one and surrendered no hits.

Kyle Cross (1-9) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
