The Rockford Aviators (29-19) jumped out to an early lead, but were unable to hold on and lost 2-1 to the Washington Wild Things (23-27) on Sunday.

An RBI double by Matt Peters gave the Washington Wild Things the lead in the seventh inning.

David Popkins was solid at the plate for the Washington Wild Things. Popkins went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.

The Washington Wild Things relied on Luke Wilkins to eat up innings en route to the win. Wilkins pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and two walks while striking out five.

Kyle Hassna (6-1) took the loss for the Rockford Aviators. He lasted just seven innings, walked none, struck out four, and allowed two runs.
