The Nova Scotia (3-2) beat the Manitoba 7-4 Saturday behind both the bat and the arm of Dyton Blackett.
Blackett had a hot bat for the Nova Scotia. Blackett went 2-3 and scored one run. He doubled in the fourth inning and singled in the fifth inning.
Blackett brought the heat against the Manitoba (4-1) during his outing. The Manitoba managed just one hit off of the the Nova Scotia's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.
Colin Stenberg was solid at the plate for the Manitoba. Stenberg went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the second innings and singled in the sixth inning.
Brandon MacKeigan got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed three runs over four innings. MacKeigan struck out five, walked one and gave up four hits.
Stenberg ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
