Dyton Blackett powered the Nova Scotia (1-0) at the plate and on the bump Thursday, willing the Nova Scotia to a 4-3 victory over the Newfoundland and Labrador.

Blackett was hot from the plate for the Nova Scotia. Blackett went 1-1, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth inning.

The Newfoundland and Labrador (0-1) had no answer for Blackett, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Newfoundland and Labrador managed just one hit off of Blackett, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Evan Reid was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out seven, and allowed four runs.
