The Newark Pilots offense too much for the Victor RailRiders in 8-2 rout

The Newark Pilots (9-10) jumped out to an early lead on the Victor RailRiders (8-10) and captured an 8-2 victory on Wednesday at Victor High School.

With five runs in the first three innings, the Newark Pilots left no doubt about the eventual outcome.

A groundout by Willy Yahn, an RBI double by Mark Martin, and a groundout by Mike Lanza in the first inning and an RBI single by Cody Wiktorski during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Newark Pilots.

Martin had two extra-base hits for the Newark Pilots.

Bret Viola pitched lights out for the Newark Pilots. Viola held the Victor RailRiders hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Jacob Wloczewski improved to 1-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Newark Pilots. He allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings. Wloczewski struck out two, walked four and gave up two hits.

Peter Lannoo (0-2) took the loss for the Victor RailRiders. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out two.
