The Alexandria Aces get key pinch-hit in 6-5 victory over the Bethesda Big Train

Jackson Owens was cold coming off the bench, but Owens warmed up quickly as Owens stroked a key pinch-hit single in the nine to lead the Alexandria Aces (8-12) to a 6-5 win over the Bethesda Big Train (18-4) on Tuesday at Frank Mann Field.

With the Alexandria Aces trailing by two, Owens came to the plate and singled, bringing home Michael Kleinman.

A walk-off double by Mike Marcinko gave the Alexandria Aces the win.

Marcinko racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Alexandria Aces. He doubled in the ninth inning.

Brett Netzer got on base three times in the game for the Alexandria Aces. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first and eighth innings.

Joe Smidt recorded his first win of the year for the Alexandria Aces. He allowed three runs over one inning. Smidt struck out one, walked one and gave up three hits.

Tyler Tobin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
