The Newark Pilots drop the Albany Dutchmen 6-3 behind Norman's early single

Three first-inning runs helped the Newark Pilots (14-21) to a 6-3 win over the Albany Dutchmen (17-20) at Colburn Park on Thursday.

The Newark Pilots scored in the first on an RBI single by Kyle Norman, a groundout by Mark Martin, and a groundout by Willy Yahn.

Blake Valley boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 4-4 day at the plate to pace the Newark Pilots. He tripled in the first inning and singled in the second, fourth, and sixth innings.

Sean Aspinall racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Albany Dutchmen. He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Charlie Sobieraski got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed three runs over six innings. Sobieraski struck out six, walked two and gave up eight hits.

Mike Reitcheck ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings, walked none and struck out four.
