Matt Bywater hopes every outing could go as well as Sunday, as Bywater struck out 11 batters to carry the Southern Illinois Miners (10-4) to a 4-2 victory over the Joliet Slammers at Rent One Park, Marion, IL in seven innings.

Aaron Gates racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Southern Illinois Miners. He singled in the third inning and tripled in the fourth inning.

David Kubiak couldn't get it done on the mound for the Joliet Slammers (6-8), taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
