The Orleans Firebirds (11-9) beat the Harwich Mariners (9-12) 5-2 on Friday at Eldredge Park behind Alex Hassan, who went 2-2.
He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.Casey Gaynor pitched lights out for the Orleans Firebirds. The Harwich Mariners managed just two hits off of Gaynor, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out four during his six innings of work.
Geoff Parker was effective even in defeat, mowing down five the Orleans Firebirds batters and allowing two runs.
