A walk-off single from Alex Jones brought home the winning run for the Weyburn Beavers (26-14) in a 6-5 victory over the Edmonton Prospects (18-23) at Tom Laing Park on Tuesday.
The Weyburn Beavers were led by Jones' hitting. Jones went 2-5 and drove in one. He singled in the second and ninth innings.
Reed Lavallee went a perfect 4-4 at the dish for the Weyburn Beavers. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings and doubled in the first and seventh innings.
Hunter Tipton handled the Edmonton Prospects' lineup with ease, racking up eight strikeouts. Tipton allowed four earned runs, six hits and one walk over seven innings.
Cory Scammell racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Edmonton Prospects. He homered in the fourth inning.
Wade Mason recorded his third win of the year for the Weyburn Beavers. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered no hits.
Kyle Garvin (4-3) took the loss for the Edmonton Prospects. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
