Wednesday was a great day for Brandon Bufton, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Lethbridge Bulls (23-7) to a 13-3 victory over the Medicine Hat Mavericks (16-13) at Athletic Park.
Everything was working at the plate for the the Lethbridge Bulls in the fifth. The Medicine Hat Mavericks had no answer as the Lethbridge Bulls scored seven runs. The Lethbridge Bulls scored in the fifth on a two-run single by Josh Day, an RBI double by Bufton, an RBI single by Mitch Dornblut, an RBI single by Ryan Pidhaichuk, a fielder's choice, and a fielder's choice.
The Medicine Hat Mavericks' lineup had no answer for Andrew Grieder. The Medicine Hat Mavericks managed just two hits off of Grieder, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his four innings of work.
Andy Scott racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Medicine Hat Mavericks. He homered in the second inning.
Pat Kelley got the win, running his season record to 4-0. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out six, walked none and surrendered six hits.
Victor Soto couldn't get it done on the bump for the Medicine Hat Mavericks, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in four innings, walked two and struck out one.
The Lethbridge Bulls' Day, Cody Stewart, Bufton and Bretton Gouthro combined for 12 hits and nine RBIs.
