The Edmonton Prospects (16-11) built an early lead against the Melville Millionaires (10-20), scoring four runs in the first inning, en route to a 5-3 win on Monday at Pirie Field.

The Edmonton Prospects scored in the first on an RBI double by Cory Scammell, a two-run double by Skyler Souza, and an error.

Anthony Olson had a hot bat for the Edmonton Prospects. Olson went 2-5 and scored two runs. He singled in the second inning and doubled in the seventh inning.

The Melville Millionaires had no answer for Bradley J. Smith, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. J. Smith held the Melville Millionaires hitless over 2 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five.

It was a good day at the plate for the Melville Millionaires' Ruben Rodriguez. Rodriguez went 2-2 and drove in one. He singled in the fourth and sixth innings.

Noah Gapp got the win, running his season record to 3-0. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered six hits.

Ben Schweinfurth (2-4) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just seven innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
