The Shoreline (16-14) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Douglas (8-15), recording a 9-1 victory on Sunday at Meridian.
With six runs in the first three innings, the Shoreline left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
A groundout by Brent Firth, a hit by pitch, a hit by pitch, and a sacrifice fly by Pete Pennylegion during the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Jacob Zanon in the second inning helped the Shoreline put some runs on the board early.Zanon paced the Shoreline at the plate. Zanon went 3-4, drove in one and scored two runs.
Henry McAree improved to 3-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Shoreline. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out seven, walked five and surrendered five hits.
Matt Courneya (3-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked four and struck out two.
