Thursday was a great day for Chris Lewis, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Bethesda Big Train (29-10) to a 6-2 victory over the Herndon Braves (18-21) at Herndon High School.
The Herndon Braves were led by a flawless day at the dish by Michael Smith, who went 2-2 against the Bethesda Big Train's pitching. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.
Tim Yandel recorded his fourth win of the year for the Bethesda Big Train. He allowed two runs over six innings. He struck out two, walked three and surrendered nine hits.
Chris Lohr (2-1) took the loss for the Herndon Braves. He lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
The Bethesda Big Train were sparked by Zach Kirtley and Lewis, who teamed up for four hits and five RBIs.
