Four first-inning runs helped the Bethesda Big Train (29-10) to a 5-3 win over the Vienna River Dogs (21-18) at Shirley Povich Field on Monday.
The Bethesda Big Train scored in the first on a two-run single by Chris Lewis, an RBI double by Harrison Crawford, and a groundout by Tim Yandel.
Ryne Willard led the Bethesda Big Train's offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the fourth inning.
Chris Monaco improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Bethesda Big Train. He allowed three runs over six innings. Monaco struck out five, walked two and gave up nine hits.
Michael Lafin (1-3) took the loss for the Vienna River Dogs. He lasted just four innings, walked five, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
