A five-run explosion in the fourth inning carried the D.C. Grays (17-20) to a 9-2 win over the Herndon Braves (17-20) at Washington Nationals Academy on Sunday.

The D.C. Grays scored in the fourth on a single by Mike Caputo, a hit by pitch, , a hit by pitch, a sacrifice fly by Lamar Briggs, a groundout by Drew Reid, and an RBI single by Keith Rawlings.

Tony Holton went a perfect 2-2 at the dish for the D.C. Grays.

Dan Jarrell brought the heat against the Herndon Braves during his outing. Jarrell held the Herndon Braves hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Ryan Garner improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the D.C. Grays. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out two, walked six and surrendered two hits.

Connor Norton couldn't get it done on the mound for the Herndon Braves, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked six, struck out three, and allowed two runs.
