Patrick Mathis hit two home runs, but it wasn't enough to carry the Gaithersburg Giants (6-16) to a win on Wednesday, as the Gaithersburg Giants fell to the Vienna River Dogs (10-8) 10-7 at Criswell Automotive Field in 11 innings.
Mike Sciorra racked up three RBIs on four hits for the Vienna River Dogs. He singled in the second, fifth, sixth, and seventh innings.
Brandon Jean improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Vienna River Dogs. Jean struck out three, walked two and gave up three hits.
Zach Hodgkiss (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
