Monday was a great day for Nathaniel Lowe, as he clubbed two home runs to carry the Vienna River Dogs (6-7) to a 4-2 victory over the D.C. Grays (7-11) at James Madison High School.
Brandon Jean had an impressive outing against the D.C. Grays' lineup. Jean gave up just two hits, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during his two innings of work.
The D.C. Grays were led by Tony Holton's hitting. Holton went 2-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning and homered in the fourth inning.
Brandon Withers improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Vienna River Dogs. He allowed two runs over six innings. Withers struck out five, walked four and gave up seven hits.
Layton Dill (1-3) took the loss for the D.C. Grays. He lasted just five innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
The Vienna River Dogs were sparked by Lowe and Daniel Ferguson, who teamed up for four hits and three RBIs.
