Alan Mocahbee had two extra base hits, helping the Herndon Braves (5-4) to a 9-7 victory over the D.C. Grays (5-4) on Saturday at Herndon High School.
He homered in the first innings, singled in the sixth inning, and doubled in the eighth inning.The D.C. Grays were led by Lamar Briggs's hitting. Briggs went 4-5, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the second, fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.
Samuel Bjorngjeld got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He allowed two runs over 2 1/3 innings. He struck out two, walked two and surrendered two hits.
Zack Irwin ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
