Wednesday was a great day for Jordon Accetta, as Accetta threw eight scoreless innings to carry the Vienna River Dogs (4-1) to an 8-0 victory over the Gaithersburg Giants (0-5) at Criswell Automotive Field.
The Vienna River Dogs blew out the Gaithersburg Giants thanks to 12 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Vienna River Dogs scored four runs in the fifth on the Vienna River Dogs scored in the fifth on a fielder's choice, a two-run single by Tyler Tharp, and an RBI single by Anthony Gatto.
Jack Owens got a hit in each of his three at bats. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings.
Brady Adam ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out none, and allowed four runs.
The Vienna River Dogs' Owens, Gatto, Mason Ewers and Jordan Sergent combined for nine hits and five RBIs.
