Martin Costes went 2-4, helping the Baltimore Redbirds (5-0) to a 4-3 victory over the D.C. Grays (2-2) on Saturday at Washington Nationals Academy.
He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth inning.The D.C. Grays couldn't get anything going as long as Mark Curtis was pitching. The D.C. Grays managed just one hit off of Curtis, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three during his four innings of work.
Sean Kennedy recorded his second win of the year for the Baltimore Redbirds. Kennedy struck out two, walked one and gave up no hits.
Maverik Buffo ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just eight innings, walked five, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
