The Herndon Braves (5-6) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-2 ballgame against the D.C. Grays (7-10) on Wednesday at Herndon High School.
While the Herndon Braves led until the fourth inning, the D.C. Grays worked their way back and took the lead.
Scott Sanders had a hot bat for the D.C. Grays. Sanders went 3-5 and scored two runs. He doubled in the seventh inning and singled in the fourth and ninth innings.
John Bolton had an impressive outing against the D.C. Grays' lineup. The D.C. Grays managed just one hit off of the the Herndon Braves' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.
Layton Dill improved to 1-2 on the year by picking up the win for the D.C. Grays. He allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings. Dill struck out four, walked three and gave up three hits.
Bolton ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year.
