Both the Elmira Pioneers (15-9) and the Newark Pilots (10-12) put runners aboard on Friday, but it was the Elmira Pioneers that were able to take advantage, pulling out an 8-6 win at Dunn Field.

Tyler Plantier boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 2-2 day at the plate to pace the Elmira Pioneers. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the third inning.

The Newark Pilots were led by Brian Dudek's hitting. Dudek went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the second, seventh, and ninth innings.

Mike Stephens recorded his first win of the year for the Elmira Pioneers. He allowed one run over one inning. Stephens struck out none, walked one and gave up two hits.

Blake Brailsford (1-1) took the loss for the Newark Pilots. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
