An outstanding effort by Justin Lewis lifted the Elmira Pioneers (20-11) to a 2-0 win over the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs on Wednesday at Dunn Field.
Lewis kept the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (14-14) off the board during his 7 2/3 innings of work. Lewis struck out five and allowed no walks and four hits.
It was a good day at the plate for the Elmira Pioneers' Tommy Mirabelli. Mirabelli went 2-3 and scored two runs. He doubled in the second inning and singled in the seventh inning.
Payton Coddou (2-3) took the loss for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. He lasted just eight innings, walked none, struck out six, and allowed two runs.
