An impressive two-way performance from Dylan Sprague led the Saugerties Stallions (8-11) to a 5-4 win Wednesday over the Amsterdam Mohawks, as Sprague came up huge at the dish and on the hill.
Sprague paced the Saugerties Stallions at the plate. Sprague went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He doubled in the third innings and singled in the eighth inning.
The Amsterdam Mohawks (15-4) had no answer for Sprague, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Sprague held the Amsterdam Mohawks hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none.
The Amsterdam Mohawks jumped out to an early lead, but they were unable to hang on. The Amsterdam Mohawks led until the eighth inning, but the Saugerties Stallions took the lead back on a two-run single by Clint Hardy.
Joe Randall pitched lights out for the Amsterdam Mohawks. Randall held the Saugerties Stallions hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out two.
Tyler Smith couldn't get it done on the bump for the Amsterdam Mohawks, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
