The Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs (2-2) beat the Utica Brewers (2-2) 11-7 on Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park behind Sam Machonis, who had two extra base hits.

Zachary Vennaro brought the heat against the Utica Brewers during his outing. Vennaro held the Utica Brewers hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Zach Piazza had three extra-base hits for the Utica Brewers. He doubled in the second inning, homered in the sixth inning, and tripled in the eighth inning.

Tyler Brien improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. He allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings. Brien struck out two, walked none and gave up three hits.

Tyler Palm couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Utica Brewers, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.

JD Osborne, Thomas Walraven, Machonis and Troy Scocca helped lead the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. They combined for eight hits and four RBIs.
