The Blue Mountain (3-5) and the SW Oregon (1-7) both had scoring chances on Sunday, but it was the Blue Mountain that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 4-3 win at Pendleton, OR.
The SW Oregon had no answer for Eric Purcell, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The SW Oregon managed just two hits off of Purcell, who allowed no earned runs, walked six and struck out three during his six innings of work.
A bright spot for the SW Oregon in the defeat was Doug Molzahn, who allowed only two runs while striking out five.
Brock Breshears improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Blue Mountain. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered three hits.
Isaiah Luzny ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
