A superb effort by Jamin McCann spurred the Pittsfield Suns (16-16) to a 3-0 win over the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs (12-19) on Wednesday at Wahconah Park.
McCann held the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on four hits while ringing up six.
Jeremy Giles went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Pittsfield Suns. He doubled in the second innings and singled in the seventh inning.
Steve Colella couldn't get it done on the mound for the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs, taking a loss. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out six, and allowed three runs.
