A six-run explosion in the ninth inning led the North Shore Navigators (8-5) to an 11-2 win over the Torrington Titans at Fuessenich Park on Thursday.
The North Shore Navigators scored in the ninth on an error, an RBI double by Tanner Bush, a two-run double by Bush, an RBI single by Brandon Fischer, and a sacrifice fly by Chad Martin.
The Torrington Titans (6-6) had the lead early, but couldn't hold off the North Shore Navigators. The Torrington Titans were up until the fourth inning, but the North Shore Navigators had other plans for the final outcome, taking the lead back on a two-run home run by Giovanni Dingcong.
Bush put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the North Shore Navigators.
The Torrington Titans had no answer for Thomas Lane, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. The Torrington Titans managed just one hit off of the the North Shore Navigators' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out three during his four innings of work.
Taso Stathopolous improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the North Shore Navigators. He allowed two runs over five innings. Stathopolous struck out six, walked five and gave up four hits.
Taylor Luciani was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked five, struck out seven, and allowed five runs.
The North Shore Navigators' Dingcong, Michael Rizzitello and Bush combined for five hits and five RBIs.
