Early lead not enough for the Chatham Anglers, drop 5-2 decision to the Harwich Mariners

The Chatham Anglers (22-20) built an early edge on Friday, but the Harwich Mariners (19-21) roared back to steal a 5-2 victory at Whitehouse Field.

The Harwich Mariners took the lead in the fifth inning on a wild pitch.

Sheldon Neuse was hot from the plate for the Harwich Mariners. Neuse went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fifth and seventh innings.

The Chatham Anglers couldn't get anything going as long as Hunter Newman was pitching. The Chatham Anglers managed just two hits off of Newman, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his three innings of work.

Jake Godfrey couldn't get it done on the hill for the Chatham Anglers, taking a loss. He lasted just four innings, walked four, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
