The Brewster Whitecaps (17-14) beat the Orleans Firebirds (22-9) 10-6 on Friday at Eldredge Park behind Jack Meggs, who collected three hits.
He singled in the second, fifth, and ninth innings.Ronnie Dawson paced the Orleans Firebirds at the plate. Dawson went 2-4, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the sixth inning.
Jordan Sheffield improved to 2-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Brewster Whitecaps. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered three hits.
Corbin Burnes (3-3) took the loss for the Orleans Firebirds. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
