The Cotuit Kettleers (4-12) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 4-3 ballgame against the Wareham Gatemen (8-8) on Friday at Lowell Park.

The Wareham Gatemen took the lead in the ninth inning on a passed ball.

Stephen Woods Jr. brought the heat against the Cotuit Kettleers during his outing. The Cotuit Kettleers managed just one hit off of the the Wareham Gatemen's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his three innings of work.

Michael Paez did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Cotuit Kettleers, reaching base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He doubled in the second inning.

Shea Spitzbarth got the win, running his season record to 1-0. He struck out none, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Kevin Ginkel (0-1) took the loss for the Cotuit Kettleers. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
