An ace performance by Jeremy Gooding spurred the Florence Freedom (45-44) to a 6-0 win over the Frontier Greys (40-49) on Friday at UC Health Stadium.

Gooding held the Frontier Greys scoreless during his nine innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on six hits while striking out eight.

The Florence Freedom blew out the Frontier Greys thanks to six hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run double by Steve Carrillo helped the Florence Freedom score two runs in the eighth. The Florence Freedom had one hit in the inning.

Andrew Godbold reached base two times. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He homered in the fourth inning.

Bobby Shore (5-8) took the loss for the Frontier Greys. He lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed three runs.
