Wednesday was a great day for Austin Gallagher, as he hit two home runs to carry the Windy City ThunderBolts (29-38) to a 5-4 victory over the Gateway Grizzlies (24-43) at Standard Bank Stadium.
The Gateway Grizzlies had no answer for Tommy Nance, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Nance held the Gateway Grizzlies hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Grant Buckner was solid at the plate for the Gateway Grizzlies. Buckner went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.
Jake Fisher improved to 3-6 on the year by picking up the win for the Windy City ThunderBolts. He allowed four runs over 6 2/3 innings. He struck out eight, walked three and surrendered eight hits.
Jordan Wellander ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
