Five first-inning runs helped the Washington Wild Things (27-36) to a 7-2 win over the River City Rascals (34-29) at CONSOL Energy Park on Thursday.

The Washington Wild Things scored in the first on an RBI single by Scott Kalamar, an RBI single by Kalamar, an RBI double by David Popkins, and a three-run double by Austin Wobrock.

Wobrock racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Washington Wild Things.

Tim Flight's five strikeouts helped the Washington Wild Things to the victory. Flight allowed no earned runs on four hits and four walks over six innings.

Curran Redal had a hot bat for the River City Rascals. Redal went 2-5 and drove in one. He singled in the seventh inning and tripled in the ninth inning.

Joe Scanio couldn't get it done on the rubber for the River City Rascals, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
