Jose Vargas went 2-4, helping the Traverse City Beach Bums (31-18) to a 2-1 victory over the Rockford Aviators (30-19) on Saturday at Wuerfel Park.
He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.Michael Shreves brought the heat against the Rockford Aviators during his outing. Shreves gave up just two hits, allowed one earned run, walked one and struck out four during his six innings of work.
A bright spot for the Rockford Aviators in the defeat was Kyle Brueggemann, who allowed only two runs while striking out five.
Brueggemann (4-3) took the loss for the Rockford Aviators.
