The Normal CornBelters (21-17) failed to take advantage of Ozney Guillen's effort at the plate on Sunday, losing 9-6 to the Joliet Slammers (18-21) at Silver Cross Field.

Guillen rocked the Joliet Slammers with two home runs. Guillen went 3-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored. Guillen homered in the fifth and seventh innings.

Alfredo Rodriguez reached base three times in the game for the Joliet Slammers. He scored two runs and had two RBIs. He doubled in the eighth inning.

The Normal CornBelters couldn't get anything going so long as Adam Giacalone was on the hill. The Normal CornBelters managed just three hits off of Giacalone, who allowed one earned run, walked two and struck out three during his five innings of work.

Kevin McNorton got the win, running his season record to 3-1. He allowed one run over 2 1/3 innings. McNorton struck out two, walked none and gave up three hits.

Ross Spurgeon couldn't get it done on the bump for the Normal CornBelters, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out two, and allowed two runs.
