A superb effort by Will Oliver lifted the Evansville Otters (50-34) to a 4-0 win in seven innings over the Normal CornBelters (52-33) on Wednesday at Bosse Field.
Oliver held the Normal CornBelters scoreless during his seven innings of work. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on three hits while striking out eight.
Shayne Houck racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Evansville Otters. He homered in the first inning and singled in the fifth innings.
Ross Spurgeon brought the heat against the Evansville Otters during his outing. Spurgeon held the Evansville Otters hitless over 1 2/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out four.
Leondy Perez (1-1) took the loss for the Normal CornBelters. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
