The Gateway Grizzlies (3-8) took down the Florence Freedom (5-5) 12-4 on Tuesday at GCS Ballpark after slamming the Florence Freedom with nine runs in the fifth inning.

The Gateway Grizzlies scored in the fifth on an RBI single by Madison Beaird, an RBI single by Shawn Payne, a two-run single by Blake Brown, a three-run double by Grant Buckner, and a two-run home run by Ben Waldrip.

Waldrip racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Gateway Grizzlies.

JaVaun West picked up the win for the Gateway Grizzlies. West pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs, four hits and five walks while striking out four.

Austin Newell had two extra-base hits for the Florence Freedom. He doubled in the fifth inning.

Casey Henn (1-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed nine runs in five innings, walked two and struck out six.
