Boxscore | Game Recap | Boxscore Text Version | Gamelive Version

The Sacramento Legends escape the Nevada Big Horns behind Maher's 14 strikeouts, 8-0

Story by Narrative Science.

Matt Maher hopes every outing could go as well as Saturday, as Maher threw a shutout to carry the Sacramento Legends to an 8-0 victory over the Nevada Big Horns (0-5) at North Tahoe Park.

Maher's 14 strikeouts helped the Sacramento Legends to the victory. The Sacramento Legends' pitcher tossed nine innings of shutout ball and allowed only six hits.

Five runs in the opening three innings allowed the Sacramento Legends to easily put away the Nevada Big Horns. A groundout by Alex Gaskin and an RBI single by Andrew Rubalcava during the first inning fueled the Sacramento Legends' offense early.

Alex Muzzi had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He singled in the first and third innings, doubled in the fifth inning, and homered in the ninth inning.

Brett Minnick was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed five runs.

The Sacramento Legends were sparked by Rubalcava and Gaskin, who teamed up for nine hits and six RBIs.
