The Champion City Kings (24-35) and the Butler BlueSox (33-27) both had scoring chances on Thursday, but it was the Champion City Kings that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 5-3 win at Davidson Stadium.

Mitch Coughlin got on base three times in the game for the Champion City Kings. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the sixth inning and doubled in the eighth inning.

Mitchell Machi racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Butler BlueSox. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the third and seventh innings.

Daryn Lewis improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Champion City Kings. Lewis struck out one, walked none and gave up two hits.

Jon Laird couldn't get it done on the bump for the Butler BlueSox, taking a loss. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
