The Hannibal Cavemen (13-35) and the Terre Haute Rex (38-12) each put runners in scoring position on Wednesday, but the Hannibal Cavemen capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 4-3 win at Clemens Field.
Troy Wehde racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Hannibal Cavemen. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh and eighth innings.
The Terre Haute Rex's lineup had no answer for Zak Wallner. Wallner held the Terre Haute Rex hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out three.
A bright spot for the Terre Haute Rex in the defeat was Ethan Larrison, who allowed only one run while striking out five.
Matt Mikolajczak was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
