The West Virginia Miners (23-14) beat the Butler BlueSox (18-17) 7-5 on Saturday at Linda K. Epling Stadium behind Stone Osborne, who went 4-4 at the plate.
He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fourth, sixth, and eighth innings.The Butler BlueSox had no answer for James Doubet, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Doubet held the Butler BlueSox hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out one.
Matt Hansen paced the Butler BlueSox at the plate. Hansen went 3-5 and scored one run. He singled in the first, fifth, and sixth innings.
Tyler Rowe got the win, running his season record to 1-1. He allowed four runs over five innings. Rowe struck out three, walked three and gave up nine hits.
Josh LaPiana (3-4) took the loss for the Butler BlueSox. He allowed six runs in 3 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out two.
